ICIM Medics Breast Assessment
Do you have pain in your breast?
Do you worry about Breast Cancer?
Are you under 50 and just want to check?
ICIM Breast Assessment main advantages:
Younger women can be assessed with no pain and no-radiation (therefore no risks for the under 50’s). The ICIM Breast Assessment eases anxiety in those with a positive family history of breast cancer or have pain in the breast. The ICIM Breast Assessment can mean the difference between a women receiving a lumpectomy as opposed to mastectomy thereby reducing medical expenses i.e. shorter hospital stays, reducing the need for chemotherapy or radiotherapy).
- Quicken the diagnostic process
- Aid in earlier treatment or relevant course of action
- Monitor patient care
- Aid in precise location for surgery, biopsy
- Be another tool for confirmation
Whats involved in the ICIM Medics Breast Assessment?
The ICIM Breast Assessment is based on five key factors that together can be a reliable source for further investigation. The ICIM Breast Assessment – combines Questionnaire, CTI (computerisedthermographic imaging), CBE (clinical breast examination), ultrasound and tumour marker tests where appropriate.
The Questionnaire provides information regarding the patients family history and risk factors. The patient then is assessed by the CTI scan which measures the thermal or heat patterns radiated from the skin. It is a non-contact, non-invasive procedure; with no risks or side effects. The thermal patterns are displayed on the skin and detected by the infrared sensor of the camera. Interpreted, as temperature data, the information is transmitted to the computer where all images are stored as pictures.
Pathological blood vessel growth is found in tissues with elevated metabolic demands or reduced blood flow as a means to increase the capacity of the micro-vasculature. In the case of cancer, an increased metabolic load and reduced oxygen provision to the tumour core can be seen to be the primary trigger forangiogenesis.
This increased metabolic load and hypervascularization increases the temperature of the area where CTI can detect. It is these ‘thermal or heat spots’ that ICIM look out for.
The area detected as suspicious is physically examined i.e. a clinical breast examination (CBE) is carried out on the specific location to determine if theanisothermic spot is caused by micro-vascularization or is in the solid stage.
A solid stage anisothermic (difference in temperature) spot is then observed using ultrasonography. An ultrasound can with more precision focus on the area observed in the CTI and CBE saving time and exposure to sonography. With positive risk results from the questionnaire, CTI, CBE and Ultrasound, a tumour marker blood test can be performed.
The complete ICIM Medics Breast Assessment is conducted within 1 ½ hours with immediate results. Blood tests follow 2-3 days later.
